Rest

He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside still waters,
He restores my soul.
Psalm 23:2-3a

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.  Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”  1 Kings 19:11-13
I have a week's staycation coming up.  I'm ready for a "rest." I know there won't be a lot of resting, but the idea of not coming into the office every day, debating what to wear and does it meet dress code [wish we could just wear scrubs!], what's for lunch, leaving the house and sometimes crabby/crying girls to my wonderful, patient husband, watching the clock for when is it time to go home.  I'm looking forward to a week of soul restoration, spent with my husband, my girls and my mom [visiting].  Maybe I'll even be able to have enough quiet time that I'll be able to hear the Lord's gentle whisper.
