The Dentist

I took Maggie to the dentist on Thursday. I thought it would be nice for her to talk about it in her own words:

“I was very brave. And I wasn’t scared. I just stayed still when I take my x-ray. The dentist gave me a new toothbrush. I just get a Princess toothbrush. And I just also get dental floss. It was very ticklish. And I wasn’t wobbly. And my mom just read a book to me. And I played with a toy truck. I just wear my jelly shoes there. The dentist just called my name. I have 10 teeth on top and 10 on the bottom. I was tell when it’s Mom’s turn. I was ready for my turn. That’s it.”

Pictures from this weekend

Jessie has a chat with her new dolly. She has been desperately trying to roll over. I helped her once this afternoon and she was pleased to see how it is done.

Edited on Monday 9/20: Jessie finally rolled over at daycare this morning. Tiffany said she did it 3 times. I think we are in trouble.

Albert the Bear visits the Dailey House

Albert is a bear that resides in Maggie’s Pre-K class and gets to go home with a student for a week. Albert came to our house last week. Maggie enjoyed having Albert hang out with us, even though he did have to guard the car a couple of times because Maggie wasn’t sure she wanted to share him with the other kids.

It was only in her dreams . . .

I've gone over to daycare every day since the girls have started going. I would do this even if Jessie was eating from her bottle fine because I love to see their faces. Looking at my calendar this week is going to be more challenging to get over there, but I still will.

Today, I got over there a little later than usual, so I didn't get to see Maggie as her class was already in quiet time and you couldn't pay me enough to disturb Pre-K quiet time. Very very bad juju. Tiffany was just getting ready to make Jessie a bottle when I got there, so I picked up a sleeping Jessie from the bouncy seat and went into the back to feed her. She opened her eyes once or twice, but didn't really acknowledge I was there, other than to slurp from my breast. I tickled her a few times to get her to finish, but when she did, she still didn't wake up. So I decided to lay her down, the best way to wake a sleeping baby right? Not this time. She grunted, rubbed her face - kinda, but otherwise didn't move. I wonder if she even realizes I was there, or if she thinks it was all just a dream.

Back to reality

I've been back to work full time for 2 weeks now. Last week kind of felt like a practice week as Rocky was home and Grandma Bonnie & Grandpa Mike came up for the weekend. But this week was the real thing. Both girls in daycare. And a new daycare to boot.

Maggie loves the new daycare. She is in the pre-K room and yesterday they went to the library. Which (bad mommy here) was her first trip to the library, ever. We/I just haven't gotten around to getting to the library and getting our library card here in Billings. But now that she has been, she is eager to go back. They also have a traveling bear, Albert, that Maggie got to bring home this week. We have already taken several pictures and Maggie gave him a "make-over" last night in her play tent. We will do some journaling of her time with him and she will get her own show and tell time to talk about her week with Albert. We have had a few issues with drop off, mostly because Maggie goes into a general room with kids aged 2 and up and not her own classroom. I hung out with her a bit this morning and stayed until breakfast. We will probably make a deal with Maggie that if she has good drop offs each morning without tears, Mommy or Daddy will stay for breakfast on Fridays. And Little Seeds is cool with it as long as we give them a day's notice. And the pancakes this morning smelled REALLY good.

Jessie is adjusting well. She's not fond of any of the bottles we brought. Her caregiver, Tiffany, brought in a Soothie bottle, which has the same nipple as her favorite pacifier. And of course, she drank well from that. If today goes as well, then we'll purchase some Soothie bottles for her. They aren't expensive, but unfortunately we have to order them as our local Wal-mart doesn't have any in stock. And at least we know lots of people having babies so we can give the bottles Jessie doesn't like away.

I love having the girls close. We've all driven in together this week and will try to do it on a regular basis. We park at the Gazette and walk to Little Seeds. Then I walk to work. I've also gone up to visit at lunch time every day, so I'm getting some exercise in! 20 minutes walking each day is going to add up :) It also helps that I'm able to get into my jeans again.

Treasure Hunt

Maggie took me on a treasure hunt today. She even drew a map.

We went across the pet shark lake and to the cawing flowers.

Farmer’s Market

The past 2 Saturday mornings, we’ve hit the local Farmer’s Market.  Last weekend, we picked up 2 Hutterite chickens. I’m hoping to roast one and turn the other into chicken soup as it is getting to be that time of year.

farmermarket01Yesterday, we found a few more deals: Hutterite dill pickles & cantaloupe, sweet corn and some really awesome berries:  strawberries, blackberries & white raspberries.  The berries were juicy, plump and sweet.  I put a few on some ice cream (with some chocolate syrup), but the rest we all just ate.  I am really looking forward to picking up some more next week!farmermarket02Grandpa Mike got cookies & fudge, Grandma Bonnie got a caramel apple and Maggie got a balloon deer which she named “Smelliot.”
