2012 Church Christmas Program

Both girls participated in the church Christmas program this year.  Jessie did so well as the little lamb, and even wore the hat while walking down the aisle.  She is sitting front and center, and even sat there through all the songs.

Maggie is to the far left, singing her little heart out so joyfully!  I was right in front, so I could even hear her!

Day Six Hundred Ninety Two

Jessie is quite the little ham and loves to perform the Itsy Bitsy Spider.  Typically, once finished she signs "more" and says "'pider!" But of course, once I got the video going, she was done after one performance.

God is Wild About You! VBS 2011

Maggie spent her mornings this past week at Bible School. As her daycare is at church we didn't have to concern ourselves with transportation as Miss Carol took all the kids in preschool who were signed up to and from VBS. Every day Maggie had stories to tell us about what she learned. She told me today that her favorite story was the one about Jonah and she could listen to it over and over. Her favorite part of the story was when Jonah was swallowed by the big fish. She was disappointed to discover that story was not on the CD we got. You can see her dancing and singing here.

She enjoyed all the music and seemed to learn a lot. And she is teaching ME what it truly means to have faith like a child.

Jessie at 7 months

I can't believe my baby will be 7 months old tomorrow. We had a playdate at the Kriegers the other day and she had fun playing with their Dancing Mickey Mouse. She showed off her crawling skills, and I screwed up a video of her scrawling after the Mickey. She is also trying hard to stand up and has been crawling to the stairs and looking up as if studying just how she'll get up them. She is babbling more and more and we are hearing lots of "Da-da"s. She is loving her veggies and adores bread. She will grab it off our plates and chow down. She's not a big fan of fruits, but I'm sure that will come.

She's a wonderful baby, charming everyone she meets. She's not the little snuggler her sister was (and still is), though she does love to snuggle with me at night, and I love it too.

Learning to sew

A few months ago, Grandma Bonnie brought us an old sewing machine. The only time it gets used is when she visits, and the last time she was here she showed Maggie how to use it.

Bathtub composition

Musical inspiration can strike any time and any place. With Maggie, that time was last night in the bathtub:





She sang for about a half an hour before she was done. Then it was on to bed to watch and sing along to 'Beauty and the Beast.'

Bible School

Maggie spent the mornings last week at Vacation Bible School. She had a great time and is still singing and dancing. They learned about Joseph and the church set up an Egyptian Market Place for the kids to learn more about life in Egypt and do some crafts.

Preschool Habitat Project

Well, it's that time of year again. Preschool habitat time! Last year, Maggie made a bird habitat. This year, she decided she wanted to make a jaguar habitat. So, we saved some toilet paper rolls to make trees, found an old box and then went shopping for more supplies. We found some green ribbons to make the tops of the trees, but were unable to find a toy jaguar. Sometimes your choices are limited when you are just shopping at Target :) We did find some white tigers and other animals we THINK live in the jungle (I certainly hope white tigers live in a jungle. At least these 2 will). I think Maggie was a little tired (she got to spend the night at cousin Christy's house and had a BLAST and probably went to bed late and got up early to play)and frustrated because she told me "Mom, I just don't think I need to make a habitat." I told her it is for school and she has to. To which she replied "Mom, I don't think I need to make a JAGUAR habitat. I can make a white TIGER habitat!"

Ah Spring!

Two weeks ago, we had a beautiful spring weekend. Sunny skies, warm temps and a chance to hang outside. Rocky did a lot of yard work, but Maggie, Otis, Wiconi & I hung out in the backyard. As this weekend has been a little crappy, I decided this would be a good time to post pictures from last weekend.

The Circus, the circus, I love the circus!

Last weekend, we took Maggie to the Shrine Circus. We had gone to see the elephants a few days earlier when they took them downtown. When I got Maggie there, they were giving pony and elephant rides. Maggie was very concerned that there was a pony without a rider and graciously volunteered to be the one to ride that pony. We decided later that week to take Maggie Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately, we didn’t plan ahead enough and buy tickets, so we ended up in line for the 1 p.m. show and bought tickets for the 4 p.m. We spent our down time doing a little shopping and playing at a playground. I can only remember going to the circus once as a child (and never in my adult life). I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, though I did know they would be selling souvenirs, which may or may not have much to do with the actual circus. The food was actually reasonably priced ($2 for just about everything they brought around to the crowd), but the toys were not. Their big sale item was a saber that lights up. We told Maggie we were only buying food and got a sno-cone, cotton candy and pop. Maggie also got her pony ride (see video below) and it was her very favorite part of the circus.

The first act was the best: trained tigers! There were 2 white Siberian tigers who were gorgeous! One was a bit feisty and we half expected her to take a piece out of the trainer! We did see an acrobat take a spill. The first half was about an hour long and at intermission, it was painfully obvious that Maggie was very tired. The ring master was certain to tell the kids that the light sabers were for sale and Maggie decided she “needed” one and attempted to wave down one of the guys walking around selling them. Rocky told her several times we weren’t going to get one. Then she started asking for an elephant ride again (after her pony ride, she told us she “needed” an elephant ride). Another no and the tears started flowing and it was time to go home. She cried most of the way home, until she found her new finger paints. She fell asleep early and even took a nap Sunday afternoon.
